Growth, Nutrition & Development Care
Every child grows and develops at their own pace, but regular assessment of growth, nutrition and developmental progress is an important part of pediatric healthcare. At Janani Women and Children Care, Growth, Nutrition & Development Care focuses on supporting a child’s overall health from infancy through the growing years.
Dr. Rentala Naveen, MD (Pediatrics), Fellowship in PICU (IDPCCM), has experience across pediatric inpatient care, emergency care and pediatric intensive-care settings. His academic work also includes research related to nutritional assessment and quality of life in children with cerebral palsy, reflecting his academic involvement in pediatric nutrition and child health.
Monitoring a Child’s Growth
Growth assessment helps understand whether a child is progressing appropriately for their age. During a pediatric consultation, concerns related to a child’s physical growth, eating patterns and general well-being can be discussed and evaluated.
Parents may seek pediatric guidance for concerns such as:
- Growth and weight-related concerns
- Childhood nutrition
- Feeding-related concerns
- Childhood obesity
- Developmental concerns
- Changes in appetite or eating habits
- General health and well-being
- Ongoing pediatric health conditions
Nutrition During the Growing Years
Good nutrition plays an important role throughout childhood. Nutritional requirements change as children move from infancy to early childhood and adolescence. Concerns about poor eating habits, inadequate nutrition or excessive weight gain may benefit from pediatric assessment.
Rather than following the same approach for every child, nutritional guidance should consider the child’s age, growth pattern, current health and individual requirements.
Supporting Development
Parents are often the first to notice differences in their child’s development. The client’s pediatric condition list specifically includes childhood obesity and developmental delays, making growth and developmental care an appropriate part of the clinic’s pediatric services.
A pediatric evaluation can help determine whether a concern requires routine observation, further assessment or additional specialist support.
At Janani Women and Children Care, the aim is to support children through different stages of growth with attentive pediatric assessment, appropriate medical guidance and family-centered care, helping parents make informed decisions about their child’s health and development.
